Heureka Z is the mare with whom it all started at Zangersheide. She stands at the basis of the Zangersheide success. With this mare Leon Melchior competed against the best in the world, at the greatest shows in the world. Heureka Z is also the grandam of Ratina Z, the most coveted mare in history. She was Olympic champion with the team under Piet Raijmakers and won individual silver in Barcelona. She was the very best in the sport and made her mark in breeding with sons such as Rex Z, Crown Z and Comme Il Faut. Like Ratina Z, Courtisane Z (Calvin Z x Graf Gotthard Z) is a granddaughter of Heureka Z. This Courtisane Z was then crossed with the very best stallions such as Caretano Z, Baloubet du Rouet and Berlin, the sire of this auction foal Berlou AL Z. Berlin and Gerco Schröder won team gold at the WC in Aachen and is year after year gaining popularity in breeding thanks to offspring such as Zerlin, Zycalin W, Zippit and Faustino de Tili.
